Flinders Ranges South
Extended easter trip April 2-12th, 2026

Jorgen and Ann will be heading off through the Flinders Rangers in April.
No limit per se but was thinking 6 vehicles & setup - possibly add some more if there is interest to do so. We have let the stations know that we may be a group of +6 vehicles with a mix of car, caravan and camper trailers.
There is no plan completely set yet but please reach out to Jorgen if you would like to join them and would like some more information. They are planning to stay in some campsites that have been pre booked. Please make sure you reach out to get this information.
The approximate cost of this is looking to be camping $500+ and track access of $2-$300

Let’s cover the southern part of Flinders Ranges this time around. This trip is based on Tony Noble’s August-September 2025 trip. We intend to travel with our caravan, so it will be caravan friendly.
We will have to figure out where to leave the vans etc. whilst we are traversing tracks etc. during the day. I intend to check with the places we are staying overnight whether we can park the vans etc. there whilst we do the sightseeing and pick in the afternoon etc. but either way, we will figure out a way.
There are a range of costs involved. The current estimate for Jorgen & Ann travelling as a couple includes the stuff below. Just stays is an est. A$522. Tracks access probably in the range of A$200-300, and adding fuel in.. would be a fair bit in total.
- On the way there. Est. A$20.
- Bendleby Ranges: 3 nights. Total A$216.
- Wilpena Pound: 1 night. Total A$55.49.
- Moolooloo Station: 2 nights. Total: A$120.
- Merna Mora Station: 2 nights. Total: A$60.
- On the way back home. Est. A$15-50.
So, if you are considering joining this trip, please be aware of these costs. Would also have to arrange for the additional parties on the bookings that we have. I have spoken to some of the parties already and thus far gotten yes, no problem.
Trip schedule of sorts:
DAY 1 – APRIL 2ND - MELBOURNE TO OUYEN LAKE
Driving: 5-6 hours (5 hrs non-stop). Aim to be at the lake in the late afternoon.
DAY 2 – APRIL 3RD - OUYEN LAKE TO BENDLEBY RANGES (NO FRUIT OR VEGIES FOR BORDER CROSSING):
Driving: 7.5-8 hours (6 hrs 38 min non-stop)
DAY 3 – APRIL 4TH - BENDLEBY RANGES
Bendleby ranges tracks.
- Rim track. 42 km hard – 4 hours
- Billy goats. 20 km difficult 3 hours
DAY 4 – APRIL 5TH - BENDLEBY RANGES
Bendlebery Ranges Tracks
- Ridge top nature drive. 1-2 hours.
- Hidden valley loops A&B approx. 1 hour each 5.4 km
DAY 5 – APRIL 6TH - BENDLEBY RANGES TO SKYTREK WILLOW SPRINGS STATION
Driving from Bendleby Ranges to Skytrek Willow Springs Station: 2-3 hours (2 hrs 7 min).
DAY 6 – APRIL 7TH – SKYTREK WILLOW SPRINGS STATION TO MOOLOOLOO STATION
- Skytrek track. 6-7 hours – 80 km track. $65 per vehicle start before 10.30am
We will be driving to Moolooloo Station once we have explored for the day. Estimated time from Skytrek to Moolooloo Station is 1.5 hours (1 hr 11 min non-stop).
DAY 7 – APRIL 8TH - MOOLOOLOO STATION
Mooloo Station tracks
- Ferguson Gorge track. $40 per vehicle. 3- 4hours return + short walking
- Public access roads. $Free. Nuccaleena Copper Mine
DAY 8 – APRIL 9TH – MOOLOOLOO STATION TO MERNA MORA STATION
Driving: 1.5-2 hours (1 hr 22 min non-stop)
Merna mora Station tracks
- Bunbinyunna Track: $55 per vehicle. 4-5 hours.
- Heritage Trail: $55 per vehicle. 4-6 hours.
- Wowee Track: $45 per vehicle. 2-3 hours.
DAY 9 – APRIL 9TH – MERNA MORA STATION
DAY 10 – APRIL 10TH – MERNA MORA STATION TO BORDERTOWN RECREATIONAL LAKE
Driving: 8-9 hours (7 hrs 30 min non-stop)
DAY 11 – APRIL 11TH – BORDERTOWN RECREATIONAL LAKE TO TBC
Driving: TBC hours (TBC non-stop)
DAY 12 – APRIL 12TH – TBC TO HOME
